i have finally finished my media studies project but had a few problems as i had to act in my own film. i had to set the camera up and then film the scene and cut the bits out and i also had to get one of my actors to do two parts he was the person who was attacked then also a police man in the end. i have had people look at my film and most of them came back positive a few bad comments were the acting was bad and also people thought it was a crime thriller insted of a thriller but there were some good comments like some people would buy the film if it was released on DVD and also that they would want to watch the est of the film if it was made. over all i think i had a good result and am proud of my work.

recently i have edited my final AS level coursework and have now comleated it and burnt it to a DVD i had to film some more footage as i had not got enough to cover the criteria of 2 minutes so i filmed a few more scenes which gave me an adiquate amount of film for the criteria. i had one problem which was actors. one of my actors had to act for 2 characters he was the victim of the attack and also a police officer who was covering the attack.

i have not recently been on my blog so its going to be a catch up.
recently we have been learning about how the audiance is influenced by the TV and how you are unable to control what you watch most of the time as people turn the TV on to watch it for no reason or they havnt specifically turned it on to watch a certain show.
how teenagers are influenced by the reality of violent video games and how some people cant realise whats real and whats not.
we also have discussed that programmes like ''little britain'' which is shown after the water shed can easily be accessed before the water shed on bbc ''iplayer'' where you only have to click ''yes'' to watch it and say that you are over 15 by clicking a button there is no conrol over this.
we have also covered small amounts of representation
mass media communication includes- signs and symbols, television, radio, film/cinema, literature, internet, contemary music and also tele communications.
key concepts are learnt through life by watching films and reading newspapers
the film makers such as steven spielberg study the concept of representation.
writers and acedemics over many years have explained the effects and proceses of media texts and industries.
contoversial material such as bad language, sex and violence is seen to be more harmful when shown on television because it arrives in our homes, possible unanounced and uninvited by its audiance.
recently there has been complaints made about TOP GEAR as jeremy clarkson said about truckers that all they do is ''change gear, change gear, change gear, rape a prostitute, change gear, change gear, murder'' which we as a class discussed as it was shown before the water shed some of the arguements were ''it was before the water shed and alot of younger children watch the show and they are now going to think that all truck drivers rape prostitutes and murder people'' others included ''people that ofter watch TOP GEAR know what jeremy clarkson is like and they should not have shown it to there children if they didnt want them to hear things like this. personally i dont think there was anything wrong with it.
i have also finished my filming and have started to edit it on the macs which is going semi successful as i have lost a small bit of my film and cannot find it. if i dont find it thn its an easy secene that i can film again.

last lesson we studied sinotics and learnt that words and pictures can mean different things even though the word goes with the picture, i have finally finished my media storyboard and the sound and vision time lines

13th october 2008

last week we studied some opening scenes of films and analysed them in to 4 groups MES, E, C, S. today we completed our storyboards and started on a timeline for the sound and whats happening on the screen. i intend to film my 2 minute film this week.

8th october 2008

yesterday in media we started to do our final storyboard i decided that i was going to do a spooky/horror artifact for my fianl piece and i have drawn a rough copy of my story board and also a final copy of my story.
i will have my artifact set in the woods at dusk with somebody walking through the woods and something attacking them from behind.
you will never get to see the face of the attacker so it will keep the audiance in suspence.
my target audiance will be the late teenagers (15-20).

26 sept 08

today in media we discussed what would happen and we were given the two day trip itinery. we will have to make and produce a mini documentry about our trip. we also burnt our short film onto a disc which we will send off to the exam board.

22 sept 08

today we finalised our short film and finally added the credits and music to it. we used sweet home alabama as we all thought it is a catchy tune to go along with our film.
we also did our evaluatiion and story board today and still need to finish the evaluation.

21 sept 08

on friday ( 19th september 08) we edited our short piece of film and inserted a title and credits we also had fade in's and fade out's we called our film 'the deal' as it was most appropriate as the footage was of lucy and josh shaking hand and saying 'do we have a deal?' next lesson hopefully if goes to plan we should have our short film written onto a DVD so we can watch it on a tv instead of the computer.

18th sept 08

today in media we had a look at one of the AS media studies film about our school and had to pick out what techniques they had used and discuss all the good points about the production.
We also imported more footage onto the apple macs and put it together along with our still pictures of the same scenes we accidently put everything into the trash and had to get it out of the trash and have another go, but we ran out of time and will continue with it next lesson.

12 sept 08

today in media studies we had another go at putting our stills and film together. this time was successful which pleased us and we came up with some funny fotage then we had a look at putting some sound and adding effects to the footage but did not have enough time.

11 sept 08

today in media studies we learnt how to upload still images and put the stills along with our film in to one presentation. we also discussed meadia language and learnt that media text doen not have to be writing it can be adverts as well. we had some trouble with getting our stills into the right places to go with the film. we still have to get to grips with the program softwere.

8th sept 08

today we discussed what types of shots we have to do and learn. we also discussed 180 degree rule. we also have taken some still shots which are to go with our storyboard. they are of josh and I walking down a farm track we took one of us at a distance, then one closer, then one of us at the side, then another one of us walking away, then one further away and then the last one which is us at a great distance.

5th sept 08

today in media studies we imported our 59 seconds of film on to the mac computers and we learnt how to use the software today. we also have discussed some still shots that we might want to take and put into our film.

4th sept

today we filmed at different angles and close ups.
we used the camera for 30 mins and filmed 59 seconds of footage.
we were still getting used to the camera and managed to find the right buttons we needed.
